Join the Friends of the Gallery on a tour to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of Claude Monet on the 100th anniversary of his death with a “never seen before in Australia” exhibition” at the Geelong Gallery. ‘Discovering the Impressionists: Paul Durand-Ruel, Art Dealer Among the Artists’. With more than 70 paintings from across two generations of Impressionist artists, the majority from private collections in France, this is an exhibition not to be missed. Underpinning it all is the remarkable legacy of Paul Durand-Ruel—the art dealer who staked everything on a movement the establishment refused to accept.

The trip will also include guided tours of the Heide Gallery in north-east Melbourne and the TarraWarra Museum of Art, in the Yarra Valley. On the final day you can elect to view exhibitions of your choice at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Southbank and the Ian Potter Centre, NGV, Federation Square.

Tuesday September 1

We will depart Coolangatta Airport on Tuesday, September 1 at 10.20am. On arrival in Melbourne, we will be met by Murray’s Coaches and travel to the Geelong Gallery stopping for lunch on route. We will then tour the Exhibition and return to our accommodation at the Mecure Melbourne, Southbank Melbourne.

Accommodation includes:

• Room with daily buffet breakfast 
• Daily internet access 
• Daily housekeeping service 

Bedding options include either one Queen bed or twin-share configurations. Guests requiring a single room will incur a supplement of $300.

On the evening of arrival, you are warmly invited to join fellow travellers for welcome drinks.

Wednesday September 2:
Our coach will take us to the Heidi Gallery for a private guided tour of the eminent Hungarian born, French photographer Brassai’s work, on iconic city images and its people by night. We will then travel to the TarraWarra Estate Restaurant for lunch, followed by a guided tour of the TarraWarra Museum of Art’s Inside the Mirage – shaped by the imaginative and philosophical worlds of artists Ian Fairweather and John Young Zerunge. Following the guided tour, the Estate Cellar Door will provide us with a wine tasting. We will travel back into Melbourne, late afternoon.

Thursday September 3: In the morning, our coach will take us to the gallery of our choice: visiting the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) at Southbank or the Ian Potter Centre, NGV Australia at Federation Square.

There are 2 options for the flight back to Coolangatta.

1. The coach will take us to the airport for a 7.55pm departure arriving at Coolangatta at 10.05pm.

2. You make your own way to the airport for a 1.45pm departure arriving at Coolangatta at 3.55pm for an additional cost of $75

Cost: $1,400
